Normal camo pack has green, brown, and tan. They have a desert pack with gray, tan, and one other color - can't remember, think it was a loam green?? There's also a winter pack, but you won't see that much!

I only did up my face Army style two or three times, but I was a Person Other than Grunt.

Only when we have to. That stuff was murder on your complexion. It had insect repellent in it and gave you blackheads. It was difficult to get
off and burned your eyes if it got in there. Most folks can't fight against the superpowers and opt for guerrilla wars. They hide among the locals rather than the woods/jungle. The new Army camouflage has a more urban spin, though a lousy one, to fight in cities & towns The black weapons stick out like sore thumbs. I paint mine and get a hard time for it on occasion. Sooner or later we will all be wearing Multicam it is far more effective. Like that's why

The reason for camo face paint is to reduce visibility which includes closing the pores so you can't sweat. It is still used today.

American's come to us Canadians and say "OH BOY! Your digital camo pattern is pretty! Can we use it too?" So we sold the technology to the US DOD so that they could produce their own Disruptive Pattern uniforms, and they came up with the TERRIBLE looking ACU. It's a shame because our Temperate Woodland CADPAT (Canadian Disruptive Pattern) blends in with the terrain of Afghanistan better than ACU and the Arid Region (Desert) CADPAT does.

But yes, the same old War Paint. Nothing does a better job.

Drew C, believe it or not, they do still paint their face. Not so much for camoflauge purposes, but to celebrate the spirit de corps.

In my five Army years I have never painted my face in a combat zone--only training. As I said, strictly for the spirit de corps.

But, its not to say that Soldiers never use face paint in combat. And no, not grey but green and brown still. The ACUs are a color right in between greenish-grey and brown. Their were designed to help conceal in a many different number of environments. And to cut costs probably on having to switch over from woodland to desert cammos do deploy.

And Im sure they do have grey face paint. I have yet to use it.

Yes they do. Faces tend to stick out in the over growth. It is common in militaries all over the world for soldiers in combat scenarios to paint their faces and other exposed body parts (hands, for example) in natural colors such as green, tan, and loam for camouflage purposes. :o)

I'm pretty sure Army guys go to the cosmetics counter and pick up a shade of blue to match the rest of their outfit. Periwinkle, perhaps? Cotton Sky?

:-D

(Srsly, though, they use the same ol' paint.)

I wish my iParty had this in stock...they never have the colours I need as a professional facepainter. Then I'm stuck ordering online and paying a lot more. :(
